Dr. Robert E. Ball, Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Naval Postgraduate School, was the author.

AIAA Aircraft Combat Survivability TextbookThe 1985 textbook presents the fundamentals of the aircraft combat survivability design discipline. It provides the reader with the history, concepts, terminology, facts, procedures, requirements, measures, methodology, and the technology for the nonnuclear combat survivability analysis and design of both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft. It is also applicable to uninhabited air vehicles (UAVs) and guided missiles. Approximately 10,000 copies of the book have been sold in five printings.
